What is it about?

Personnel certification in functional safety proves that a specialist masters the safety lifecycle of safety-related electrical, electronic and programmable electronic systems per IEC 61508. What is assessed is the determination of safety requirements, the determination of Safety Integrity Levels (SIL), and the systematic verification and validation of safety-relevant functions.

The certification is aimed at roles such as safety engineers, functional safety officers and specialists in the development, testing and acceptance of safety-related systems. Their competence and qualifications are assessed and confirmed by an independent body.
