FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions about FSSC 22000 Certification
FSSC 22000 is a GFSI-recognised certification scheme for food safety. Here you will find answers to the most important questions about its structure, process and differentiation.
What does FSSC 22000 consist of?
The scheme combines ISO 22000, the sector-specific prerequisite programmes (such as ISO/TS 22002-x) and additional FSSC requirements. Together these elements form a complete, GFSI-recognised food safety management system.
What does GFSI recognition mean for us?
Many large retail chains and brand manufacturers require a GFSI-recognised certification from their suppliers. FSSC 22000 meets this requirement and gives you access to the corresponding supply chains.
How does the certification work?
Our activities are strictly limited to certification services: planning and conducting certification audits to assess conformity of the food safety management system with the requirements of FSSC 22000, certification decision based on the audit results, issuance and maintenance of FSSC 22000 certificates, and conducting surveillance and recertification audits in accordance with applicable rules and defined time intervals.
Can we switch from ISO 22000 to FSSC 22000?
Yes. As FSSC 22000 builds on ISO 22000, a switch is readily possible; in addition, the relevant prerequisite programmes and additional requirements must be demonstrated.
