What is assessed in a product certification?
The purpose of product certification is to provide an objective demonstration that defined product requirements are met, that products conform to applicable standards, technical specifications, and regulatory requirements, and that conformity has been verified by an independent certification body.
How does a product certification work?
Our activities are strictly limited to independent certification services: review of documentation, technical evidence, and conformity information to verify compliance of products with relevant standards, analysis of submitted documentation and independent decision on issuing an ISO 17065 certificate, and issuance of an official certificate confirming conformity.
What is the difference to management system certification?
A management system certification (e.g. ISO 9001) assesses your organisational processes, while a product certification assesses a specific product against defined characteristics. Both can complement each other but pursue different objectives.
How is ongoing conformity ensured?
By conducting surveillance and recertification audits according to defined schedules and accreditation requirements.
Do you advise us on product design?
No. Our activities are strictly limited to independent certification services. As a certification body, we objectively assess whether products meet relevant standards, technical specifications, and regulatory requirements.
