New Course: SOTIF & ISO 21448: Safety of the Intended Functionality in Automated Driving

Automated driving functions introduce new challenges to functional safety. Our new training course “SOTIF & ISO 21448: Safety of the Intended Functionality in Automated Driving” provides in-depth knowledge of one of the key standards in this emerging field.

Participants will gain a structured understanding of the motivation and objectives behind SOTIF, the terminology and structure of ISO 21448, and how it differs from existing standards like ISO 26262. The focus is on identifying and assessing potentially hazardous behavior in non-fault-based systems, developing mitigation strategies for insufficient scenario coverage, and understanding the specific verification and validation requirements. The course also covers how to build a strong safety argument in accordance with SOTIF, complemented by real-world case studies from sensor technology and ADAS development.
